Brace Yourself

Crop Top: Ark
Dungaree Skirt: River Island

There has come a time where we all have to admit that Summer isn't just ready yet. After 3 or 4 days of hot beautiful sunshine, smells and tastes of BBQ's and the £5 Tesco deck chairs holding our Corona's, that was it. What a tease. It also means I have resulted to taking outfit photo's inside so I apologise for the lack of quality here.

I recently bought this crop top from Ark in Cambridge. I spent just a little too much money in there but couldn't resist as it is fast becoming one of my favorite stores. Not mentioning the amount of Levi's I have bought from there. I also got this dungaree skirt fro River Island. I didn't try it on in store and I really think I might sell this as it isn't what I expected at all. I am dying to find the perfect pinafore skater dress as body-con really isn't my thing at the moment (cough cake cough).

The Yellow World.

Now, if you will, please excuse the ridiculous "looking out the window watching the world go by emo face" shot. I wanted to write a post about a book I am currently reading which has pretty much saved me and got me out of a nasty stage in my life about 6 months ago. This book is called The Yellow World by Albert Espinosa. Not only does this book change your outlook on life, it creates a positive you and makes you see the world as - Yellow.

"Albert Espinosa never wanted to write a book about surviving cancer, so he didn't. He wrote a book instead about the Yellow World. What is the yellow world? The yellow world is a world that's within everyone's reach, a world the colour of the sun. It is the name of a way of living, of seeing life, of nourishing yourself with the lessons that you learn from good moments as well as bad ones. It is the world that makes you happy, the world you like living in. The yellow world has no rules; it is made of discoveries."

Just from reading that passage, you can see how enchanting this book may be. It really is full of discoveries and such inspiration from such a strong man. He even explains how he threw a party for his leg he was about to lose in hospital. This is where he teaches you that with every loss, comes a positive. This is one of my favorite chapters and inspired me to be who I am today. Other favorite chapters include "The Word Pain Doesn't Exist", "Don't Be Afraid Of Being The Person You Have Become", "Listen To Yourself When You're Angry" and "Find What You Like Looking At, Then Look At It". Like me, I like looking at the sunshine (yellow world), hence the photo's meh meh meh meh....

Albert Espinosa has won several battles with death, which is why his stories are so full of life. He s powerful because he never gives up. His greatest hope is that after you read this book, you will go off in search of your Yellow World. I cannot recommend this book enough. If you are currently in a state of "Meh" (and not the sarcastic laughing kind I displayed earlier) then this book is for you. Go and buy yourself a Costa and take an hour to read some of this in Waterstones. I guarantee, you will want to be a part of the Yellow World.

George at Asda Summer 13 Press Event.

Yesterday I got the chance to leave the country and visit the city for the George at Asda Summer Press event. I spend far too much of my time "meal planning" on the asda website and not enough time "outfit planning". I was so unbelievably pleasantly surprised with the collection that my aim this summer, is to buy clothes on a budget. It is surprising how much money we could all save if we shopped at george. Festival go-ers, go to asda.
London was beautiful yesterday and having told myself "no Kristy no" to a few items in Monki and American Apparel, I slowly wandered up to the George event. Greeted by some lovely people who were a pleasure to meet, I was given a glass of something bubbly, a goody bag and was given the chance to hear about the different styles and the background ideas that created these beautiful items.

The Powder Puff Girls were there to greet us in gorgeous, vintage inspired outfits offering hairstyling, manicures and makeovers. I was given a "bouffant" which my bowler hat was unimpressed with. Below is Leigh from Fox and Feather who had a gorgeous curly look.

Below are my most favourite items from the day. Every girl had their eye on the Floral Ditsy Print Pinafore Dress and now I am swooning over this Women's Summer Dress. I was particularly drawn to the G21 collection and found the on trend prints and slogan tee's adorable.

After some street styling in Carnaby Street, we all relaxed on floral bean bags and ate picnic food. There was also some time to play with some props and take photo's, eat candyfloss and admire Toni's feet.

One Girls Trash, is another Girls Treasure

Coat: Car Boot Sale
Dress: Topshop
Creepers: Primark

I was a very lucky girl who spotted this coat at our local car boot sale during the Easter break. After winning £50 in an Easter competition at work, we took our winnings to the "one persons trash, another persons treasure" and my pennies could not have been spent any wiser. Being instantly attracted to the colour and the cosy black faux fur, I quickly took £7 out of my pocket and took the coat home. To my delight, it was also in my size. Perfect.

It seems as though we are all suffering in some way with the current economy, so why not see if you can grab a bargain at your local car boot sale too!

Wonderland

Dress: Topshop
Shoes: Primark

Decided to keep it minimal the other evening when me and the other half went for a stroll in our local forest. I bought this dress from Topshop a few weeks back in Cambridge and absolutely adore it. I cannot wait for the warmer weather to wear it on its own. What caught my eye was the waist crochet detail. Needless to say, it was rather chilly when the wind blew and the deers may have not got a nice view either...

I hope you all had a lovely Easter with your family and friends. I am currently sporting a 9 month food baby and finding it difficult to say no to all those mini eggs....

Oh, I decided to include the other half too as he looks rather dashing dont you think?
